You're Limiting Your Success By Doing This...
Have You Tried This?
Buckle up and get ready for some fun facts about building your personal brand! You've probably heard a gazillion people chanting "niche down, niche down, niche down..." like it's some kind of magical formula for success in the world of social media.
Sure, there's some truth to it. You can totally find success by focusing on your niche. But here's the secret sauce: I've seen my clients skyrocket their personal brands by talking about stuff that's NOT in their niche.
See, it's important to talk about what you want to be known for. You want people to stumble upon your profile and go, "Wow, this person has got something amazing to offer!" But here's the catch with being super niched down: it's tough to attract outside traffic or cold traffic to your page.
Let's dive into an example, shall we? Take day trading or real estate. You create content for those specific niches, and hey, you attract people within those niches. Awesome! But now, imagine sprinkling in some broader topics. I mean, come on, we all have similar tendencies, similar tastes, and who doesn't love a good story, right?
Now, let me break it down for you with a nifty comparison: ads. When a business runs ads, they target their current audience, but they also aim to reach a cold audience to create awareness. It's like casting a wide net.
Guess what? We can do the same thing with our organic content. We can create content for our niche, targeting our warmer audience. But we can also create content for a broader audience. And get this, it can be about anything under the sun, from generic topics to personal experiences.
I've got some mind-blowing success stories for you. Brace yourself! One of my better performing videos is about a crazy trip I booked to China but ended up in Japan.
One of my finance related clients talked about someone who drove his car and crashed it which resulted in over 300,000 views.
Another finance related client talked about how he grew a beard and boom, nearly 1,000,000 views. And oh, here's a gem: one of my clients runs a podcast about a TV show they were featured in. They wanted their reels to be all about the show, but I convinced them to mix it up with a clip about "pet peeves." I mean, who doesn't have those, right? Bam! That broad topic appealed to everyone.
